Report on “Beyond the Lens” Activity

The Department of Mass Communication organized Beyond the Lens, an experiential learning activity focused on visual storytelling and creative interpretation. Students captured visuals and used AI tools to enhance storytelling by generating narratives, captions, and contextual interpretations for their images.

The activity emphasized perspective, emotion, and meaning beyond technical photography, highlighting the ethical and creative use of AI in media practices. Students developed skills in visual communication, critical thinking, and AI-assisted storytelling.

Bollywood Buzz

The "Bollywood Buzz" event, a grand and thoroughly entertaining spectacle, was meticulously conceptualized and executed by the final year students of the Department of Journalism and Media Management.

This highly anticipated cultural event was successfully staged at The Auditorium on October 13, 2025, running from 11:00 AM to 3:30 PM.The central purpose of the day was to pay a vibrant tribute, specifically honoring the 50th anniversary of the iconic film Sholay, making the event a landmark celebration of cinematic history. This event was a key practical project for the Event Management curriculum, giving final year students necessary, real-world experience in planning and running a large event.Upon arrival, attendees were immediately immersed in an electrifying atmosphere. This was primarily achieved through the enthusiastic adherence to the theme, as every organizer and many participants were elaborately dressed as iconic Bollywood characters. This collective visual transformation turned the event space into a genuine movie set, fostering a palpable buzz of excitement and anticipation among the faculty and student body. The structure of the event was carefully balanced, designed to integrate fierce competitive performances across the three designated categories-'Aja Nachle' (Dancing),'Gata Rahe Mera Dil' (Singing), and 'Andaaz Apna Apna' (Acting) alongside enriching guest interactions and robust audience engagement. This blend of cinematic glamour, student talent, and thematic celebration ensured the day was a professional and resounding success for the entire department.

The event was successfully conducted with great enthusiasm, patriotic spirit, and active participation from students and faculty members. The program effectively highlighted the significance of Republic Day and reinforced the values of unity, democracy, and constitutional rights. Through various cultural performances, creative presentations, and media-based activities, students showcased their talents and expressed their pride in the nation. The event enhanced awareness about the Constitution of India and encouraged responsible citizenship among participants.

The event witnessed active participation from students who showcased their talents through activities like The RJ Hunt and Create Your Own Design.

Participants demonstrated exceptional confidence, voice modulation, and presentation skills during the RJ Hunt, reflecting their potential in the field of radio and broadcasting. The design segment encouraged innovation and creativity, where students expressed their ideas through unique and impactful visual concepts.

The Mock IPL Auction 2025 was an interactive activity for final-year Sports Journalism students, simulating the real IPL auction process. Students took on roles as team owners, analysts, and auctioneers, bidding for players within a set budget. The event enhanced their understanding of player valuation, team strategy, and sports business dynamics.

Red FM Visit

  • A group of students were taken to News 18 TV channel to attend the recording of the famous programme “NETAJI LAPETE MAIN”. Students were able to understand the recording process in TV channels.
  • First year students were taken to 4 days trip to Kurukshetra and Chandigarh. The trip was organized as a part of Photography project to be undertaken by the students.
  • Students were taken to Max Muller Bhawan to attend Urban lens Film Festival. This festival gave them an exposure to some documentaries and short films.
  • Students of final year were taken to 3 day trip to Shimla-Kufri.
  • A group of students participated in the programme on INDIA TV and interacted with the film stars like Ajay Devgan, Kareen Kapoor Khan and Akshay Kumar
  • A group of students attended the famous progarmme “AAP KI ADALAT”
  • A group of students were taken to TOI press to understand the newspaper printing process.
